BITCHU MATSUYAMA CASTLE
The Bitchu Matsuyama Catsle was built in 1683. An alternate name for this castle is the Takahashi Castle. The unique protective feature of this castle is that it has large stone walls to keep enemies outside the castle. Another interesting fact about this castle is that it has the highest altitude of all Japanese Castles. The castle’s altitude is an astounding 480 meters above sea level. This is a huge advantage because castles tended to be built on hills and mountains so the enemies would have trouble getting up to the same level as the castle.
